Owe no man anything, save to love one another: for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law.
I’m fairly certain this one is decently straight forward BUT I felt like playing in the various dictionaries and thesauruses that are available to me. 🙂
1. to be under obligation to pay or repay. 2. to be in debt to. 3. to be indebted (to) as the cause or source of. 4. to have or bear (a feeling or attitude) toward someone or something.
I take that to mean we should act and behave in a manner that does not cause remorse or regret. This isn’t just about finances. This is about attitude and how we carry ourselves.
So, the only thing we should owe someone is that we love them. Agape love. Not the ooey gooey stuff. 🙂
The last phrase of that verse says: “for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law“.
You know. That sounds really easy to do. Love people. Love them the way God loves us. And we have fulfilled the law.
But, it’s difficult to love without condition. We are human after all. However, loving people is what God is all about.
